What Size Is A 2-Month-Old?

According to the World Health Organization, there are standards for your child’s growth from the infant stage to their youth. When the baby is born, their average weight is around 7 to 7 1/2 pounds (3.2 to 3.4 kg).

But this is not a set default; your full-term baby can weigh between 5 pounds 11 ounces to 8 pounds 6 ounces (2.6 to 3.8 kg). If the baby’s weight is less than 5 pounds 8 ounces (2.5 kg), the baby is underweight. And if they weigh more than 8 pounds 13 ounces (4.0 kg), they are overweight. For underweight or overweight babies, you can buy baby t-shirts in smaller and larger sizes respectively.

What Affects A Newborn Baby’s Weight?

A newborn baby’s weight can usually fall in the 6 pounds to 8 pounds bracket. But there are a number of things that affect the baby’s weight, below are the reasons for this fluctuation.

  • The duration of pregnancy: Usually if your baby is born prematurely, there is a chance they are underweight. Similarly, if the baby is born past the due date, they tend to be larger.
  • Smoking: If a mother smokes during pregnancy or is a smoker, the newborn tends to be smaller.
  • Gestational diabetes: Diabetes can lead to a bigger baby.
  • Nutritional status: If the mom-to-be has poor nutrition and has an unhealthy food intake, there is a chance the baby can be smaller. Moreover, in the case of excessive food intake and an unhealthy diet, the baby can be overweight.
  •

No matter the baby’s weight, you can buy baby bodysuits and t-shirts in different sizes.

  2. Now, take your baby’s legs and put them into the bodysuit one by one.
  3. Eventually, put the baby’s arm into the bodysuit’s sleeve. Button up the bodysuit and put on the pants over the baby’s diaper.

What Are Ideal Hospital Newborn Baby Boy Outfits?

When your newborn arrives, you need to be very careful. On top of their skin being extra sensitive, the newborn isn’t used to the environment, so you need to take care of the following things.

  • Style: The baby should be welcomed with a stylish baby onesie that melts everyone’s heart right away.
  • Simplicity: An ideal hospital newborn baby outfit needs to be functional and hassle-free. Keep it simple!
  • Have a backup: Buy baby t-shirts and baby rompers to have super cute options.
  • Cover the head and toes: Ensure you buy a hat and socks for the newborn, no matter the season.

How To Dress A Baby In Winter?

  • Caps and socks: Protecting your baby's head and feet is one of the most important precautions to take. Their head and feet are as delicate as any other part, so they need caps and socks.
  • Mittens: When it comes to winters, even adults keep rubbing their hands and putting them inside pockets. Babies have an even more difficult time keeping themselves warm.
  • Blankets and shawls: You can use a shawl or the baby's receiving blanket as an extra layer. These layers are breathable and can be adjusted easily throughout the day.

  • How To Dress A Baby In Spring?

  • Baby onesies: Buy a baby onesie and it will be the best layer of clothing you'll buy for your baby. It serves as a whole outfit and as a layer as well.
  • T-shirts: Baby t-shirts are adorable and the most versatile garments you can buy for your baby. Buy baby t-shirts for your little one, and you'll be good to go for seasons to come.
  • Shorts: Shorts are fabulous summer garments. A pair of shorts under a summery t-shirt or cute baby bodysuit is the perfect summer outfit during warm weather.

  • How Many Clothes To Buy For A Newborn?

  • 4-6 pairs of baby bodysuits
  • Baby bodysuits are one of the best clothes you can buy for your baby. These are like short baby onesies with stretchable material; they are comfortable and easy to wear.

  • 4-6 T-shirts
  • One of the most convenient baby outfits is some good baby t-shirts. They can be paired with shorts or cute pajamas, and they are comfortable.

  • 2-3 bibs
  • New parents may or may not know that babies throw up or spit anytime. They have to be patted on their back after meals and milk to get them to burp. You often have to change the baby's clothes after and that's what burping clothes are for.

  • 2-4 pajamas
  • Baby pajamas are one of the most comfortable clothing items you can buy for your baby. But since a newborn baby moves a lot, pajamas need to be carefully selected, and you should keep the pajamas for winter only in the first few months.

  • 2 footed pajamas
  • If the baby is constantly troubled by wearing socks, you can get footed pajamas. As the baby won't be walking on their feet anytime soon, you don't have to worry about shoes or the pajamas getting dirty.

  • 2 sweater and jackets
  • If you want your baby to be warm, you need to get warm sweaters and jackets. Even if it's not cold outside, you might have the AC on or go somewhere that's a little chilly than usual.

What Does It Mean When Baby Clothes Have The Size 5T?

Baby clothes come in different sizes for every baby, as everyone’s baby is unique. When you look at the baby clothes sizes, you’ll see different sizes and sections.  When the baby grows up into a toddler, the clothing sizes change. A garment meant for toddlers is designated as “T”, which means how old your baby is in years.

If you see 5T written on the sizing information, it is suitable for kids of age 5 years.

How Do The Baby’s Clothes Sizes Work?

Many new parents get confused with the baby’s clothes sizing. Most new parents are used to having small, medium, and large as the default so these months, numbers and symbols can be confusing. But here is a short and easy way to understand baby’s clothes sizes.

    • Up to 2 years of age babies have sizes mentioned in months or years. After two years, these sizes can be cited as “T” for a toddler, so if you come across a garment with 2T or 5T written over it, it means 2 years and 5 years, respectively.
    • Some baby clothes have a size bracket, for example, 0 to 3 months, which means they can fit a wide range of ages. If you are confused if you should choose 0-3 months or 3-6 months for your baby, go for the latter. Your baby will grow fast and 0-3 will run small.
    • If the size information has just one month written on it, for example, 6 months, it means it is suitable for a baby up to that age.

Information about husky sizes and where to buy could be beneficial. Our youngest has been off the charts since birth, and we struggled with finding clothes that fit. He’s 8 now and starting to outgrow the “husky” and can actually wear clothes in regular sizes. The husky sizes were tough to find, but a small list of online stores carry them (Lands End, Old Navy, Gap, and Kohl’s). I was so frustrated at one point, I was ready to start my own husky kid’s clothing line. I hope this is helpful!

Baby clothing sizes across all brands follow this size guide usually. In the case of heavier babies, you can go for a size up. Here are a few tips you can follow in true to size brands like Cute Rascals to get the perfect fit for your child:

    1. In case your baby is underweight, you can go for a size lower. Check your child’s weight in the above table and make the right decision.
    2. If your baby is overweight for the default size, the right option is to size up. See if your baby fits into the weight bracket and if you are still in doubt, go for the upper bracket. For example, if your 10-month-old baby boy weighs 20 lbs 5 oz, you need to buy 11-month-old baby clothing.
    3. Baby clothing brands like Cute Rascals are true to size. If your baby is thin and tall, you need to buy baby clothes from specific brands. If your baby is shorter and husky, you need to purchase from different brands.

So I recently have been hearing about the problem of "disposable" clothing and the impact on low-wage workers and the environment. Usually, the "big solution" in the article/news piece is to buy higher-end, more expensive stuff so that you can keep it or give it to other people.

I personally can't afford to spend $200 on a play outfit for my three-year-old, and I don't think I would even if I did have the money.

Super long way to say...I'd be really interested in reading suggestions about getting rid of outgrown clothes responsibly or how to upcycle them easily.

Just like any other garment, disposing of a kid's garment also leads to waste generation. One way of generating less waste and responsibly purchasing clothing is to buy from trustworthy brands, but they are expensive. Another way of doing that is only purchasing baby clothes that you actually need, and when they are worn out (or your baby outgrows them), you can upcycle them.

Go for comfortable and diverse clothing from Cute Rascals, and here are ways you can upcycle them when needed:

    1. If your baby has outgrown the clothes or they never got the chance to wear them, the best option is to donate them. Not only will you be able to organize your baby’s space better, but it will also generate less waste, and you’ll help someone too. That’s a win-win!

    You can donate to:

    • Friends or family
    • Pregnancy center
    • Children’s hospital
    • Church group

    1. You can craft baby clothes into keepsakes. You can also hire someone to make cushions, quilts, pillow covers, and decorations.
    2. If you want to reuse your baby’s clothes without much effort, you can turn them into rags to help you around the house. You can also turn them into patches for elbows and knees, or you can make drawstrings for curtains, travel bags, and more.
